What if a doctor’s office wasn’t just an office, but an all-encompassing service that addressed all of your health care needs?
Nutritionists, mental health services, walk-in clinics, all of your annual check-ups – all available at your new patient-centered medical home (PCMH).
In 2008, there were 28 certified PCMHs in the US. Last year? There were 2,600.
The Affordable Care Act is expected to increase that number, as changing Medicare pay structures and an increased number of insured patients will make the PCMH model more cost-effective for providers, and more popular among patients.
Dental health care is a key component. But adult Medicaid coverage does not include preventive dental services.
That's a huge problem - for the health of low-income patients, for government cost savings, and for the medical community not reimbursed for such care.
Oral health is health.
