Health Policy Update: Virginia's 2017 Session, ACA Repeal and Medicaid

Congressional Republicans released a summary of their proposed ACA replacement. While no bill has been filed, the policy brief provides a snapshot of key components. The proposal repeals the individual mandate, makes no mention of pre-existing conditions and repeals most taxes and fees which provide funding for the components of the ACA. The proposal does not provide any details about how the Republicans will pay for the programs outlined.

Kids' Coverage Matters

FAMIS provides affordable health, dental and mental health coverage to children and pregnant women living in families who earn too much to qualify for Medicaid but too little to afford private insurance.  Yet, over 100,000 eligible children in Virginia are not enrolled, and the program faces expiration in September 2015.
