Virginia Health Reform Initiative
The Virginia Health Reform Initiative (VHRI) was created by Governor McDonnell to implement health reform in the Commonwealth. The Initiative is charged ‘to go beyond federal health reform and recommend other innovative healthcare solutions that meet the needs of Virginia’s citizens and government’.
The Virginia Health Reform Initiative Advisory Council was created as part of the VHRI. It is a 24 member group of individuals from throughout Virginia which provide recommendations for implementing the Affordable Care Act in Virginia. In December 2010, the Advisory Council approved a draft of recommendations for health care delivery in the Commonwealth designed to begin the process of implementing the coverage provisions in the Affordable Care Act. Currently, the Advisory Council is creating recommendations based on information gleaned from three public meetings held throughout the summer of 2010 and from public comment submitted in response to white papers generated by VHRI.
The Virginia Oral Health Coalition issued written comments for each of the white papers and subsequent reports. To access the Coalition’s VHRI comments, please follow the links below:
